His success has come playing wing. I don’t see him as being a target unless they feel he can move back to Center.
EDIT: I'm also gonna be a negative nancy here for a moment and say last night was NOT good win.
Yes, the Pens absolutely dominated the Yotes in every way and the Pens somehow found themselves in a tie during the 3rd period.
I'm not saying the Pens should have won 8 to 2, but nearly going to OT is not how this game should have gone. |

Err going to be hard to pry J.M away. The fact that he's a 30 goal scorer with a 750k salary makes everyone want him. And he could have a very good career in Vegas long term with tons of cap room and ice time. Wishful thinking |

Yup. Wishful thinking. He'd be wise to go to FA and see what happens. Vegas looks like a playoff team, but I doubt they're a serious contender. I could see them dealing him near the TDL if they get a deal they really like. |

Yup. Vegas has a large number of free agents coming up this off-season. One would think that the younger players with talent would be the ones they're more likely to hold on to. |

I think the Pens' main problem is that they are burned out from consecutive Cup runs. The issue isn't so much personnel as it is just the team as a whole being burned out. Making drastic trades now would be a big mistake (unless Rutherford can trick someone into taking Cole for some good defensive prospects). |

My friend texted me from Ottawa and he heard on the radio Penguins have been in trade talks for a package of Bobby Ryan and Derick Brassard. That would be huge! I would imagine they would have to eat salary and/Or we would have to move salary (Hagelin?). I wouldn't mind seeing them in a Pens Jersey pending on who we shipped out. I could see Ryan putting up big points. I could also see us moving Sheahan to the 3rd line LW spot. |

Even if they were willing to take Hagelin, Cole and say Sheary the dollars wont match up. Ottawa would need to eat some money on Bobby Ryan's contract. |

Sheary and Cole would undoubtedly be gone.
If there is any truth to this the Pens IMO would be sending Cole, Sheary, a 1st and Jarry.
If they can somehow get them to take Hagelin instead of Sheary that would be amazeballs. |
|
|
|
So why exactly would we want a guy who's on pace for 10 goals this year and makes over $7M for the next 5 years ?
Brassard is an okay target... |

The other wildcard here is Hornqvist and this is not coming from my personal feelings toward Horn.
If a player like Ryan is coming back, I could see Hornqvist going the other way pending an extension with OTT. I read that the Pens already made an offer that he rejected, so the idea of a top-six winger coming in I could see him going the other way. |

I'd be very hesitant to trade Jarry. |

Ryan is a goal-scorer who isn't afraid to play physical. Good players get off to poor starts all the time. OTT is clearly a team with issue right now. |

Ryan is a first line winger.
Brassard is a LEGIT 2nd line center.
You don't get two guys like that without sacrificing, especially if the Pens want OTT to retain a good $2M on Ryan. |

1st Line Wingers score more than 12 goals per season. Bobby Ryan has negative value, Bobby Ryan can't spell intense
Sheary + for Brassard would get it done for the cash strapped Sens

He's scored 13 in 62 games and 11 in 46 before... not full seasons.
I love how people pick and choose information out of context to prove a point. Also, stop parroting media conjecture.
EDIT: Here's some relevant information...
Bobby Ryan has score 30+ goals four times.
Outside of the two shortened seasons he played, he's only scored less than 20 goals ONCE in all of his full seasons.
He's played on very few quality Sens teams. A player like him on a real contender with real elite talent will give him a whole new direction. |

100% with you Gunner on JM. Probably wouldn't even need to send Cole if we are handing over a 1st. Or Cole & a 2nd, but Vegas doesn't need a Dman, they have too many as is, if anything they may throw a Dman in with JM.
In regards to the Ottawa talk, isn't Ryan injured on a regular basis? Would make a yuuge difference at the moment having Brassard in the line up. |

Very glad you're not a GM. Good players get off to weak starts ALL THE TIME. If you're going wipe away an entire career from a proven player for one bad start then you're pretty terrible at evaluating players.
Good thing you weren't in charge of the trades that brought Schultz and Hagelin here |

Last year Ryan also had 6 goals 9 assists for 15 points in 19 playoff games. |
